12/31/2008 - Ann Arbor, MI (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor is the site of today's Big Ten battle between the Wisconsin Badgers and the 23rd-ranked Michigan Wolverines, who have been much better than many expected.
Wisconsin fell to 9-3 overall with a 74-69 loss to Texas at home on December 23rd. The Badgers have been idle since that setback, which halted a three-game win streak. Their other two losses have come against UConn and Marquette, two other ranked foes, while the nine victories have largely come against rather weak opponents.
As for Michigan, it has won its last five games, and the streak began with a triumph over Duke. The Wolverines, who are 10-2 overall, including 8-0 at home, are fresh off a 77-57 decision over North Carolina Central on Monday. Jon Beilein, who coaches the Wolverines, has done an outstanding job since leaving West Virginia to take the job.
Michigan owns an 86-61 series lead over Wisconsin, but the Badgers beat the Wolverines in the Big Ten Tournament last season.
Wisconsin is not an explosive offensive team by an means, as the club is generating a modest 66.6 ppg. Fortunately for the Badgers, they have been able to limit foes to 59.7 ppg on 42.9 percent shooting from the floor. They are also pulling down four more boards per contest than the opposition and have attempted 83 more foul shots. Trevon Hughes leads Wisconsin in scoring with 12.6 ppg on the strength of his 47.8 percent shooting from three-point range. Marcus Landry provides 12.1 ppg, and Jason Bohannon adds 11.1 ppg. Hughes scored 18 points against Texas, and Bohannon provided 16 points. Unfortunately for the Badgers, they were outrebounded by a 40-25 margin, including 17-10 on the offensive glass, and that deficit played a major role in the setback.
Manny Harris is the leading scorer for Michigan this season, as he is generating 19.8 ppg to go along with 61 assists and 7.8 rpg. The versatile guard gets plenty of help from DeShawn Sims, the club's best frontcourt performer, who provides 17.2 ppg and 9.2 rpg while shooting 53.5 percent from the floor. The Wolverines are posting 74.8 ppg while limiting opponents to 62.2 ppg on 40.5 percent field goal efficiency. In the romp over NC Central on Monday, Harris exploded for 29 points and he ripped down 16 rebounds as well. Sims scored 17 points, and Laval Lucas-Perry finished with 10. Michigan only connected on 39.3 percent of its field goal attempts, but the club was able to limit its overmatched opponent to 35.8 percent shooting. A 20-4 edge in points from the foul line also helped the Wolverines.

Will Ohio State continue to run the table in College Football betting odds?
MySportsbook.com favors Buckeyes, Fighting Irish and Golden Bears in this weekend's big games.
NEW YORK, NY, Sept. 21 - My Sportsbook NCAA football fans: things are beginning to get really interesting on college football's national stage. Following last weekend's "Separation Saturday", which included five teams ranked in the top 15 dropping games, the BCS Championship picture is beginning to take shape - with Ohio State leading the charge. And, according to odds makers at MySportsbook.com, the number-one-ranked Buckeyes will continue their winning ways this weekend.
Revenge will be the name of the game in Columbus this Saturday, as Ohio State looks to even the score following last season's loss to Joe Paterno's Nittany Lions. Although Penn State are listed as 16.5 point underdogs, they are 11-10 all-time versus the Buckeyes. Paterno and the Lions, however, will have to shut down Heisman Trophy favorite Troy Smith who has thrown for 769 yards and seven touchdowns this season.
Speaking of revenge, Notre Dame will be out for some against Michigan State, following last year's 44 - 41 overtime loss to the Spartans in South Bend. The thirteenth-ranked Irish, listed as a 3-point favorite, will also be looking to avenge last Saturday's thrashing from the Michigan Wolverines. The Spartans, meanwhile, have won seven of the last nine match-ups against Notre Dame and are coming off an impressive 38-23 victory over Pittsburgh.
Out west, 22nd-ranked Arizona State will be battling for their first victory over 21st-ranked California since 2000. Although the Golden Bears are listed as 7.5-point favorites, the Sun Devils are 3-0, lead the nation in sacks with 18 and possess the Pac-10's leading passer in sophomore quarterback Rudy Carpenter.
